So this is the year I change my life...

Its probably been said many times before, by a thousand different people, but this is going to be the year I change my own life. Over the past four months of this year I have taken steps to make major changes in my world, and here's a big step sharing them with the world.

Have you ever dreamed of walking into a store and just buying what you wanted, going out to the movies or dinner any time it took your fancy? I lived that life for years but here's the catch I didn't actually have the money to live that life, especially while I was living and working overseas, my credit card (and eventually cards) took the brunt of living that lifestyle. So then I woke up at the beginning of last year at 25 in a job I didn't love, over $11K in debt on credit cards and with a $20K+ car loan, now being under employed and barely earning enough to pay the minimum on all my debt (and I mean barely).

So after two and a bit months at this job that I despised, working less hours than a high school student, I took the greatest leap of faith and accepted a job as an Apprentice Chef. It was barely a pay raise from what I was doing but I love my job so much now, the hours are long and tiring but so much more fun. I have also been able to pay off about $3.5K of my credit card debt, and have been making more than the monthly payments on my car loan for the past year. It has not been easy, and I have had to say no to many of the things that in the past I would have said yes to pretending that I could afford it when I actually couldn't.

As I approach my first anniversary as an apprentice, and celebrate the fact that I am well on my way to meeting my saving goals, I wanted to share this with the world to keep myself accountable and motivated.

I hope you'll take the ride with me.
